Spain forward Jose Antonio Reyes has joined Benfica on a season-long loan deal from Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old former Sevilla and Arsenal winger struggled to make his mark at the Vicente Calderon last season, failing to score in 29 appearances for Atletico.
Now Reyes has opted for a new challenge in Lisbon, with compatriot Quique Sanchez Flores now in charge at Benfica.
He told his new club's official website: "I come here with the ambition of being a champion. They have given me this chance and I want to make the most of it."
Reyes' move to Portugal includes an option for a permanent deal in a year's time if he impresses.
