Birmingham City's summer signing Kevin Phillips won high praise from boss Alex McLeish after netting a late winner in the 2-1 victory at Southampton.
Phillips had also struck late on in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United on the opening day of the season and McLeish is pleased to have such a potent matchwinner at his disposal.
He said: "Kevin is a fabulous striker and there is no-one better than him at scoring goals like that.
"He has the ability to score whenever he is on the pitch and you know that if he gets just one chance then he will bury it."
Phillips himself added: "I had a lot of offers from other clubs in the summer, but I decided to join Birmingham because with a two-year contract I still have a chance to play in the Premier League.
"There are a lot of good strikers at this club, but I want to play every week and I don't think I've done my case any harm by scoring two goals in the last two games.
"At this stage in my career I don't want to be sitting on the bench, I just want to be out there on the pitch playing football."
