Ferguson targets Paulo Bento to replace Carlos Queiroz

15 July 2008 - 19:27

The search to replace Carlos Queiroz is on, with United boss Alex Ferguson trying to persuade Sporting Lisbon coach Paulo Bento to become his new assistant.

Bento is a former team-mate of Real Madrid target Cristiano Ronaldo, and could be the man who can help talk Ronaldo into staying put at Old Trafford.

Sporting Lisbon have finished runners-up in the league three league three campaigns in a row under the guidance of Bento, aswell as winning three cups. A move to Old Trafford would certainly help boost his profile, and would more than likely be to good an offer to turn down.

Is Bento the right man for the job? Are United and Sir Alex Ferguson using Bento to try and persuade Ronaldo into staying put?
