Redknapp to stand by Gomes

ARTICLE BY Shane Edwards

Despite a series of high profile and costly mistakes this season, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp vows to stand by £9m Gomes. Redknapp said "His record at PSV suggests he was world class. I have to keep believing in him."

"Our goalkeeping coach Hans Leitert has to work with him and get into his head this week."

"But we’ve got to keep believing in him because that’s it, he’s the goalkeeper."

"It ain’t no good me caning him because I’ve got nothing else."

Gomes is costing Spurs precious points however, and his confidence is completely shot. Come January, Harry will almost certainly be looking to replace Gomes if his form doesn't improve. One option would be to try tempting Sir Alex Ferguson to loan out Ben Foster.

Is Harry right to stick by Heurelho Gomes, or should he select Sanchez to replace the Brazilian in the starting XI?
