Brits Supporting Foreign Clubs

2008-11-20

Do England players really care about International Football?

ARTICLE BY Lee Hill

With more and more fans becoming disillusioned with their clubs for a wide variety of reasons and the way local pride and community spirit of clubs is being completely eradicated, will we see more and more British people flocking to foreign shores in order to follow the game they love?

We have La Liga increasingly on our screens through Sky and in many ways the coverage is just as extensive as the Premier League and with cheap flights and very cheap match tickets for foreign games, it really is just as easy to follow Spanish or Italian football as it is English football these days. When you factor in that some people travel the length of the country to get to an away game, it can often be cheaper and faster to jump on a plane to watch a match abroad.

Is there a chance that rather than FC United of Manchester's popping up all over the place people will simply 'go foreign' with their support?
