Grimsby Town have revealed that Stuart Watkiss is not being considered as Alan Buckley's full-time replacement.
The former Mansfield Town manager was installed as caretaker boss two weeks ago when Buckley left the club since when the Mariners have drawn at Morecambe and been beaten by Barnet at Blundell Park.
A brief statement on the club's official website read: "The board have short-listed eight candidates for the vacant manager's job and the interviewing process will begin on Tuesday.
"In the interests of the club, and in order to unite the club, players and fans, the board have stressed that the managerial post will be an external appointment."
