Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson has blasted the current transfer window system as 'stupid' and against the interests of clubs in the lower divisions.
Wilson was unable to added to his squad before the deadline at midnight on Monday and feels that the artificial cut-off point is a hindrance rather than a help.
He told the Hartlepool Mail: "It is absolutely stupid. I don't know who dreamt it up but they have got it completely wrong.
"Clubs like ourselves and all the teams who are in the lower divisions need to survive by selling players when they are in trouble or when they need the money.
"It doesn't help anybody really and certainly not the lower clubs.
"I think they have got it wrong with the transfer window, so they have softened the blow by allowing us to take loans, which is neither here or there from my point of view."
