Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo has backed Christophe Berra and Michael Stewart to feature in the Scotland side that faces Macedonia in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
Both players have been included in George Burley's squad for the trip to Skopje and Laszlo is pleased with their call-up.
He said: "They can cope with international football and they can take more experience from this environment.
"The national coach has taken them into the squad, so they are able to play. I am happy about this, it's good for both players' development.
"Whether they start or don't start is a decision for the national coach. He is a good coach and will make the right decisions for the country.
"To be captain of the club and be in the national squad, for a young guy like Berra, it's good for his development. The games give him confidence.
"I have also been very pleased with Stewart. He is a guy with experience but not so many caps. If he plays his best football he can play many more games for Scotland."
