Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo hopes Wednesday's shock CIS Insurance Cup second round defeat to Airdrie will act as a wake-up call.
The SPL side lost 4-3 on penalties after 120 minutes of action at Tynecastle had ended goalless.
"I am sad for the people who came and who wanted to celebrate with the team. We must make our excuses as we made a very bad game in the first half," he said.
"This is always the problem if you have a young team who have had a good start, who think everything will go well.
"This is not true. Maybe this result will come at the right moment to make us wake up and realise the world is not okay.
"If you don't fight and don't give 100 per cent then maybe you can lose to the opponents."
