It's 3pm on Saturday, August 16th, the match has kicked off.
Yeovil Town gained their first League One success of the season while condemning Hereford United to their third defeat in eight days. Two goals in three first-half minutes set the Glovers on their way to victory and Hereford only had a late goal from substitute Bradley Hudson-Odoi to show for their afternoon's work. Hereford produced some attractive attacking play in the early stages without unlocking the Yeovil defence. Instead, on 19 minutes, it was the visitors who grabbed the opening goal. A move down the right worked the ball to Danny Schofield whose shot deflected into the net off Hereford's Ben Smith. United's hopes of making a winning return to League One after 31 years took a further blow three minutes later. Simon Johnson's wayward pass was picked off in midfield and Aidan Downes raced away down the right, leaving Robbie Threlfall trailing in his wake before delivering a perfect cross, which was drilled home by Paul Warne at the near post. Hereford forced five corners as the half progressed but rarely looked like finding a way through the solid Glovers defence. At the start of the second period, Johnson flashed a shot across goal after a promising move and Moses Ashikodi had a penalty appeal waved, away after the on-loan forward appeared to be brought down by goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Schofield fired over from a good position as Yeovil briefly threatened again before Hereford finally got on the scoresheet. Smith's shot from the edge of the area was spilled by Begovic and Hudson-Odoi pounced to net his first league goal. And the Bulls came within the width of a post of salvaging a draw in injury time, when Steve Guinan's header hit the woodwork and went behind.
